My Must Have Office Supplies for Work [ing From Home]
Overview
Even before 2020 changed the way we work forever, I was committed to having a home office. I work closely with global teams which can mean late night or early morning calls. I wanted to ensure that when I was at home I could be just as productive as in the office and not crammed in a corner of my bedroom where I couldn’t concentrate.
Some things I’ve purchased have been more valuable than others. Everything on this list is something I’d buy again immediately if I was starting over.
The Essentials
Standing Desk: Arguably my favorite part of my office is my standing desk. I love having the flexibility to move without being stuck in one position all day.
Under Desk Walking Pad To double down on my quest for work day movement, the biggest benefit of a standing desk is that you can put a walking pad underneath! I love walking meetings outside but when when the weather is rough, this is the next best thing.
Rechargeable Batteries I’m still surprised as to how many items still use batteries today. When I was in the office, we had an endless supply. At home? Not so much. Rechargeable batteries keep my mouse and life functioning without costing me twenty extra bucks a month.
Cord Organizing Cables The only downside to the standing desk? Hiding the cords. This all in one kit keeps them in place, organized and orderly.
Desk Mat - This mat is likely the reason I’ll never need to use a mouse pad ever again. It keeps me from so much cleaning and acts as a permanent mouse pad so that I can move smoothly across a larger range.
Headphones
Bose Over the Ear Absolute essentials for comfort and quiet. Great on planes too! Countless hours of research went into this purchase and I’ve never had a moment of regret. Comfortable for a full day of work.
Airpods Pro For situations where the “over ear” is less appropriate. My daily go to.
Ember Smart Mug What if you never had to drink cold coffee again (unless it was cold brew and you wanted it that way) Enter the ember smart mug. Program your temp from the phone? yes pls.
Laptop Riser Essential for not having that super weird under the chin angle on calls.
Video Conferencing Light I work in a basement, and when this is on it looks like I’m next to a window. Perfect for conference calls.
